Description
Blanford Barnard (B. B.) Dougherty and Dauphin Disco (D. D.) Dougherty co-founded and served as co-principals for Watauga Academy (1899-1903). B. B. served as president of the Appalachian Training School (1903-1925), the Appalachian State Normal School (1925-1929), and the Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) from 1903-1955. D. D. served as business manager and treasurer until his death in 1929. They are standing in front of the second Administration Building, built 1924.
