Description

This image shows a boy boarding the school bus to Appalachian Elementary School (1925-1975) in the 1960s. A boy and two girls can be seen in the background on the left and the driver can be seen in the center. Appalachian Elementary School, otherwise known as the Demonstration Elementary School, was a joint venture between Appalachian State and Watauga County Schools where Watauga County elementary school students would be taught by Appalachian State teachers and students. The school existed from the mid-1920s until 1975.
