This image shows Professor F. Ray Derrick standing with a group of students outside Rankin Science Hall, built 1963, overhead in front of a Biology class at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the 1970s. A school bus can be seen parked on the right. Derrick began teaching at Appalachian State in 1946, and served as department chairman from 1956 to 1973. He retired in 1978.
