Description

This image shows Vance C. Howell, professor in the Department of Social Studies, standing with President William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969) in an office in the second Administration Building, built 1924, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in 1961-62. They can be seen holding Howell's check to the Heartline Stadium Fund. Howell was one of the first faculty members to donate to the campaign to build Conrad Stadium, completed 1962. The fund sought to raise $160,000. Howell began teaching at Appalachian State in 1923 and retired in July 1962.
