Description

This image shows Ruby Daniel, wife of Board of Trustees member Hugh Daniel and later Trustee at Appalachian State University (1967-current), sitting at a table during a dinner in the 1960s. Daniel served on the Board of Trustees from 1979 to 1987, and was chairman for 1984 and 1985. The Board of Trustees have been a governing body of the College since it became a state-sponsored institution in 1903. The Board of Trustees was formed of members representing regional areas of Western North Carolina and managed Appalachian policies, finances, and development until 1971, when it became part of the University of North Carolina system. It now oversees Appalachian under the University System's Board of Governors.
