Rather than Dwight Quinn as the man on the right in the second row, the man is Mr. Perry Greene, Boone businessman (owner of Wataga Ready Mix). Seated next to him is Mr. Kenneth Wilcox also a Boone Businessman. On the far right in the first row is Mr. James “Red“ Lyons, Watauga County Sherrif.

Description

This image shows some of the new Board of Trustees members sitting in an auditorium at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the late 1960s. Sitting on the right on the second row is Mr. Perry Greene, Boone businessman (owner of Watauga Ready Mix) and seated to the left is Mr. Kenneth Wilcox also a Boone Businessman. The Board of Trustees have been a governing body of the College since it became a state-sponsored institution in 1903. The Board of Trustees was formed of members representing regional areas of Western North Carolina and managed Appalachian policies, finances, and development until 1971, when it became part of the University of North Carolina system. It now oversees Appalachian under the University System's Board of Governors.
