Description

This image shows a teacher observing as two children stand in front of a collection of mathematical teaching aids in a math class at Appalachian Elementary School (1925-1975) in the 1950s. A multiplication table can be seen propped up against the table. Appalachian Elementary School was a joint venture between Appalachian State and Watauga County Schools, wherein Watauga students would be taught by Appalachian State faculty and students. It was housed by 1955 in Whitener Hall, built 1954, and ended in 1975.
