Description

This image shows three students standing outside a building at Appalachian State University (1967-current) holding protest signs before a debate between conservative Phyllis Schlafly and attorney Sarah Weddington in September 1985. The sign in the middle reads, "Morality differs from moral judgement," and the sign on the right reads, "'Love thy neighbor as thyself...' Phyllis Schlafly believes bobs are a gift from God FOR - and good in the hands of - America, EVIL in the hands of Russia." This image appears in the September 26, 1985, edition of "The Appalachian" (p.1).
