This image shows two people preparing to watch the U. S. Hang Gliding Championships held at Grandfather Mountain near Linville, North Carolina, in the 1970s. They can be seen standing on a boat on a river with chairs and an umbrella. The event was sponsored by the United States Hang Gliding Association, a non-profit organization that supported non-motorized, foot-launched hang gliding.
