This image shows a meeting of the Mountaineer Club at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the early 1970s. A group of men can be seen sitting around a table while Mr. Harvey Ayers stands in the center. Glasses and plates can be seen on the table. Mr. Roy Clogston, Athletics Director, is speaking. Fourth from the left is Dr. Carl Messere, head football coach. Fifth from the left is Mr. Ned Trivette, Vice Chancellor for Business. Sixth from the left is Mr. A. E. McCreary. Seventh from the left is M. Harvey Ayers. The Mountaineer Club was a sports club for donors who contributed money to the Athletic Department for athletic scholarships. Members received preference for game tickets, parking passes, and access to special Homecoming activities.
