This image shows a meeting of the Mountaineer Club at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the early 1970s. A group of men can be seen sitting around a table while another man stands in the center. Glasses and plates can be seen on the table. The Mountaineer Club was a sports club for donors who contributed money to the Athletic Department for athletic scholarships. Members received preference for game tickets, parking passes, and access to special Homecoming activities. Speaking is Dr. Carl Messere, head football coach, third from the left is Mr. Ned Trivette, Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs, fourth from the left is Mr. A. E. McCreary, fifth is Mr. Harvey Ayers, next to him is Mr. Leonard Eury, Librarian, and the man smoking the small cigar is Dr. Paul Sanders, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
