Description

This image shows the Mountaineer Playhouse performing a play at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the 1970s. Six actors can be seen standing on a stage, with a woman on the right in a wedding dress, and a figure on the left in a cloak. The Mountaineer Playhouse was a community theatre company established in the summer of 1971 by Professor Ed Pilkington in the Department of Speech and Theatre. Working primarily out of Chapell Wilson Hall, built 1938, the group performed summer productions using local professional actors and student interns.
