Majorettes, 1986, photo 2

This image shows a Majorette performing a back flip at Conrad Stadium, rebuilt 1979, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in 1986-87. The Marching Band and the audience can be seen in the background. The Majorettes formed in 1939 as the Baton Twirling Club and performed routinely at parades and athletic events with the Marching Band during the academic year. Conrad Stadium was renamed Kidd-Brewer in 1988. This image appears in the 1987 Rhododendron (p. 352).
