Homecoming Queen, 1986, Debi Phifer

This image shows Debi Phifer about to be crowned Homecoming queen during halftime at Conrad Stadium, rebuilt 1979, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) on October 4, 1986. Conrad Stadium was renamed Kidd-Brewer in 1988. Homecoming was an annual event that included dramatic performances, a parade, a dance, a football game, reunion activities, and the crowning of the Homecoming queen. This image appears in the 1987 Rhododendron (p. 345).
