This image shows a student receiving an award from a faculty member at the Honors Program award ceremony in Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in April 1981. Presenting the award is Dr. Ernest Lane (mathematics faculty). On the right and behind Dr. Lane is Vice Chancellor David McEntire (Student Affairs). The Honors Program is an academic and residential community for high achieving students and is open to freshmen, transfer students, and current students at Appalachian State.
