Description

This image shows former President William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969) standing under an umbrella during a tribute to him at the Homecoming game at Conrad Stadium, built 1962, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in October 1969. A man standing on the right is seen talking into a microphone, with Mrs. Plemmons standing next to him. Homecoming was an annual event that included dramatic performances, a parade, a dance, a football game, reunion activities, and the crowning of the Homecoming queen. Standing on the far right is Mr. James Whittington.
