Description

This image shows the Colorguard students standing in formation holding flags during halftime at the Homecoming game at Conrad Stadium, built 1962, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) on October 23, 1965. The Colorguard was known alternatively as the flag team or Flag Corps and was part of the Marching Band. Its members were trained in flag twirling and marching, and performed with the Marching Band during athletic events throughout the academic year. Homecoming was an annual event that included dramatic performances, a parade, a dance, a football game, reunion activities, and the crowning of the Homecoming queen.
