Homecoming Queen, 1970, Regina Owens

This image shows Homecoming Queen Regina Owens standing with an escort on the football field at Conrad Stadium, built 1962, before being crowned during the Homecoming football game halftime at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in October 1970. The Marching Band and the audience can be seen in the background. Homecoming was an annual event that included dramatic performances, a parade, a dance, a football game, reunion activities, and the crowning of the Homecoming queen. A similar image appears in the 1971 Rhododendron (p. 385).
