This image shows the crowd sitting on Sanford Mall to hear Paul Anderson, Olympic weightlifting champion for 1956, speak during a Fellowship of Christian Athletes Rally at Sanford Mall at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the 1970s. Lillie Shull Dougherty Hall, built 1961, Lucy Brock Nursery School, built 1965, and the northern side of Sanford Hall, built 1969, can be seen in the background. The edge of the stage can be seen on the left.
