Description

This image shows a Majorette and an Appalette standing on the football field at Conrad Stadium, built 1962, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) during a practice session for the Marching Band in 1972. The Majorettes formed in 1939 as the Baton Twirling Club and performed routinely at parades and athletic events with the Marching Band during the academic year. The Appalettes formed in 1966 as a precision dance group, and performed dance routines in parades, pep rallies, and other campus events.
