Marching Band Performance, circa 1965

This image shows a performance of the Marching Band at Conrad Stadium, built 1962, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in the 1960s. The band can be seen standing in the background, while performers in suits and dresses play a variety of instruments in the foreground. The audience can be seen sitting on bleachers in the background. The Marching Band was originally started by Professor Gordon Nash in 1939 and was managed by the Department of Music. They performed routinely at parades and athletic events during the academic year.
