Description

This image shows a group of women preparing to run a race during a course in the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in the 1960s. Students can be seen crouching in a line on a field, while a woman stands in the background watching. Now the Department of Health, Leisure, and Exercise Science, it is located in the College of Fine and Applied Arts, and offers degrees in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Health Promotions, Physical Education and Recreation Management.
