Title

Military Science, parade, photo 2

Description

This image shows ROTC students in the Department of Military Science marching in formation at Conrad Stadium, built 1962, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the late 1970s. The Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) began in the fall of 1969 and is housed in the Department of Military Science in the College of Fine and Applied Arts. It offers two-year programs in leadership and military training with no obligation of future military service, and an additional two-year program that results in a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve or the Army National Guard.
