Description

This image shows students filing and sawing wood in a workshop in Kerr Scott Hall, built 1961, in the Department of Industrial Arts in the College of Fine and Applied Arts at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in the 1960s. The Department included programs in metalwork, graphic and furniture design, architectural design, drafting, ceramics, leatherwork, and technical education. It is now part of the Department of Technology with concentrations available in Appropriate Technology, Building Science, Graphic Arts, Industrial and Interior Design, Technical Photography and Technology Education. Kerr Scott Hall was renamed Katherine Harper Hall in 2007.
