This image shows three employees removing watermelons from the back of a truck for the annual Watermelon Cutting at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the early 1970s. Rankin Science Hall, built 1963, with its 1970 addition can be seen in the background. Wearing the white apron is Dr. Ben Horton, Dean of the College of Education. Standing in the truck is Mr. Robert Snead, Vice President for Development and Public Affairs.
