This image shows Larry Nance, director of Personnel, giving opening remarks an SEANC meeting in Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925, at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in May 1977. The State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) started in 1940 to provide representation for state employees in the North Carolina General Assembly, and held its first convention in 1947. The organization promoted increased salaries, retirement plans, health plans, and the addition of the Friday after Thanksgiving as an employee holiday. To the left of Mr. Nance are Chancellor Herbert W. Wey and Mr. Ned Trivette, Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs.
