Kraut Creek Flood, 1973, photo 4

Description

This image shows some of the damage after a flood to the tennis courts south of B. B. Dougherty Administration Building, built 1968 (not shown), at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in 1973. Cracked pavement can be seen in the foreground. On May 28, 1973, the Kraut Creek on the southern end of campus flooded after 1.6 inches of rainfall and caused thousands of dollars of property damage, primarily cars parked in lots north of Rivers Street.
