Main Entrance Sign, photo 5

Description

This image shows sign marking the main entrance to the Appalachian State University (1967-current) at night. The sign includes the university seal, reading "Appalachian State University 1899, esse quam videri." The sign consists of three painted wooden boards suspended between two stone columns, and sits at the eastern entrance to campus off Blowing Rock Road (U.S. 321). It was erected in 1967. Part of Founders Hall, built 1932, can be seen between and below the boards.
