Description

This image shows three attendees of a meeting with the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina System in a board room at Appalachian State University (1967-current) concerning Higher Education in North Carolina from 1963 to 1970 in October 1970. Chancellor Herbert Walter Wey (1969-1979) can be seen standing on the right. The Board of Governors is the main governing body of the sixteen University of North Carolina institutions, and elects each of the institutions' chancellors, vice chancellors, senior academic and administrative officers, and faculty with permanent tenure. From left to right: Mr. Ralph Winkler (Member of the Board of Trustees), Governor Bob Scott, Chancellor Wey.
