Description
This image shows a luncheon for the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina System at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the 1970s. Attendees can be seen sitting at tables with water and coffee cups in front of them. The Board of Governors is the main governing body of the sixteen University of North Carolina institutions, and elects each of the institutions' chancellors, vice chancellors, senior academic and administrative officers, and faculty with permanent tenure. Seated on the far left and in the foreground is Dr. Richard Howe, Assistant to the Chancellor. Seated third from the right and in the foreground is Dr. Raymond Dawson, Senior Vice President of the University of North Carolina.
