This image shows six faculty members of the Department of Special Education in the College of Learning and Human Development at Appalachian State University (1967-current) sitting around a table in May 1972. The Department of Special Education is now the Department of Language, Reading and Exceptionalities in the College of Education, and it includes undergraduate work in communication disorders and special education, and graduate work in communication disorders, reading education, and special education.
