Description

This image shows a student from Appalachian Elementary School playing baseball with a student from the Department of Special Education in the College of Learning and Human Development at Appalachian State University (1967-current) outside Chapell Wilson Hall, built 1938, in the late 1960s or early 1970s. Other students can be seen in the background. The Department of Special Education is now the Department of Language, Reading and Exceptionalities in the College of Education, and it includes undergraduate work in communication disorders and special education, and graduate work in communication disorders, reading education, and special education.
