Description

This image shows the Black Student Association's Gospel Choir at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the 1986-87. The Black Student Association was formed in 1974 and sponsors various annual cultural events for the African-American community, including Black Heritage Week, Black History Month, and serves as a support system for African-American students. The Gospel Choir performs several concerts a year. This image appears in the 1987 Rhododendron (p. 50). Standing on the far left, third row is Dr. Willie Fleming, Director of Minority Student Affairs.
