This image shows Chancellor Herbert Walter Wey (1969-1979) speaking at the dedication of the Allgood Living Center in Lilie Shull Dougherty Hall, built 1962, for the Department of Home Economics in the College of Fine and Applied Arts at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in October 1974. President Emeritus William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969) can be seen sitting on the right. The Department of Home Economics is now the Family and Consumer Sciences Department and provides graduate and undergraduate programs in child development, nutrition, apparel and textiles, and family and consumer sciences. Beginning on the left are Dr. Nicholas Erneston, Dean of the College of Fine and Applied Arts; Dr Jo Foster, Chairperson of the Department of Home Economics; Chancellor H.W. Wey and Chancellor Emeritus W.H. Plemmons.
