This image shows the attendees of the history retreat taken by the Department of History at Appalachian State University (1967-current) sitting in a conference room in the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center, built 1972, in May 1977. The Department of History provides programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts in History, Bachelor of Science in Teaching and Social Science Education, and a non-teaching Bachelor of Science degree, and Master's in History, History Education, and Public History. The men sitting at the table in the back of the room are unknown. The others from right to left are Dr. Roy Carroll, Dr. Shelton Hanft, Dr. Don Saunders, Dr. Michael More, Unknown (partially obscured) and Dr. Carl Ross; all of these are Professors of History.
