Description

This image shows Dr. Robert Riemann, Professor of Geography and Planning and a woman sitting in a geology classroom in the Department of Geology at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the 1970s. An overhead projector is visible in the background. The Department of Geology began in 1949. It emphasizes the scientific principles of geology and preparing students to be professional geologists and teachers. It is the only Bachelor of Science program that results in an Earth Science Teaching certification in North Carolina.
