Description

This image shows Professor Jack Callahan teaching a geology laboratory class in the Department of Geology at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in 1986-87. Students can be seen sitting at tables in the middle of the image. The Department of Geology began in 1949. It emphasizes the scientific principles of geology and preparing students to be professional geologists and teachers. It is the only Bachelor of Science program that results in an Earth Science Teaching certification in North Carolina. This image appears in the 1987 Rhododendron (p. 124).
