This image shows Cratis Williams, Acting Chancellor, speaking behind a podium at an event held by the Department of Foreign Languages in the College of Arts and Sciences at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in 1979. Professor J. R. Prince of the Foreign Languages Department can be seen sitting second to the right. Programs in the Department of Foreign Languages focus on teaching students both the language and culture of a region, and includes courses in French, Spanish, Chinese, German, Arabic, Japanese, Latin, and Russian, as well as offering classes for international business and economics majors in the College of Business.
