This image shows two attendees of an event held by the Department of Foreign Languages in the College of Arts and Sciences at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in 1979. Professor J. R. Prince is visible in the background. Programs in the Department of Foreign Languages focus on teaching students both the language and culture of a region, and includes courses in French, Spanish, Chinese, German, Arabic, Japanese, Latin, and Russian, as well as offering classes for international business and economics majors in the College of Business. The woman in the center and facing left is Dr. Patricia Eargle, Professor of Foreign Languages.
