Bio

Elizabeth Ann Parks Grinton was born May 9, 1916 in Wilkes County.  She attended the Lincoln Heights School for her primary education, and she returned there to teach after attaining her bachelor's degree at Winston Salem Teachers College and her master's degree in elementary education at New York University.  Grinton also received specialized professional certificates from Wake Forest and UNC Charlotte.  Although she moved on to teach at the Wilkesboro School after Lincoln Heights closed, Grinton helped found and manage the Lincoln Heights Recreation Corporation in order to advocate for the preservation of the Lincoln Heights school buildings.  After many years of teaching and community service, Elizabeth died on April 10, 2001.
