This image shows a student examining a paper graph in a laboratory classroom in the Department of Chemistry at Appalachian State University (1967-current) during the 1950s.The Department of Chemistry exists within the College of Arts and Sciences, and aims to provide training for future chemists, basic understanding of the principles of chemistry, and chemistry teachers. The Department has been accredited by the American Chemical Society. The man in the photo is Mr. Alfred Overby, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry.
