This image shows Professors James E. Johnson and Don Olander standing by a Beckman IR7 infrared spectrophotometer in the Department of Chemistry at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in October 1978. The Department of Chemistry exists within the College of Arts and Sciences, and aims to provide training for future chemists, basic understanding of the principles of chemistry, and chemistry teachers. The Department has been accredited by the American Chemical Society.
