Biology Department, 1980

This image shows the Department of Biology standing outside in a parking lot at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in May 1970. The Department of Biology aimed to provide cultural background in life sciences, prepare biology teachers, and train biologists, and included courses on ecology, zoology, and botany. It is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences and maintains a greenhouse, a herbarium, and several land tracts located on and off campus.The man standing on the far right is Dr. Evan Ashby, University Physician and Director of Student Health Services.
