This image shows a woman in the Department of Biology at Appalachian State University (1967-current) holding coiled extension cords and cables in the early 1980s. Other women can be seen in the background, one also holding extension cords. The Department of Biology aimed to provide cultural background in life sciences, prepare biology teachers, and train biologists, and included courses on ecology, zoology, and botany. It is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences and maintains a greenhouse, a herbarium, and several land tracts located on and off campus.
