Biology, seashell collection, photo 9

This image shows part of the seashell collection display maintained by the Department of Biology at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in April 1978. Seashells and marine specimens are displayed with white label cards in front of them inside a glass case. The Department of Biology aimed to provide cultural background in life sciences, prepare biology teachers, and train biologists. It is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences and maintains a greenhouse, a herbarium, and several land tracts located on and off campus.
