This image shows Jill Read standing by her quilt, part of a quilting competition by the Art Department at Appalachian State University (1967-current) during the 1970s. The Art Department was one of the first departments at Appalachian State and is located in the College of Fine and Applied Arts. It includes concentrations in clay, drawing, fibers, metals/jewelry, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.
