This image shows an arts workshop held for high school students in July 1974 by the Art Department at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in mid to late 1970s. A student can be seen painting a portrait at a desk. The Art Department was one of the first departments at Appalachian State and is located in the College of Fine and Applied Arts. It includes concentrations in clay, drawing, fibers, metals/jewelry, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.
