Description

This image shows Assistant Professor Glenn Phifer holding a pottery bowl while removing another from the kiln in the Art Department at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in the mid to late 1970s. Pieces of glazed pottery can be seen inside the brick kiln in the background. The Art Department was one of the first departments at Appalachian State and is located in the College of Fine and Applied Arts. It includes concentrations in clay, drawing, fibers, metals/jewelry, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.
