This image shows a faculty banquet in the mid-1980s held in Welborn Cafeteria, built 1925, at Appalachian State University (1967-current). Chancellor John E. Thomas (1979-1993) can be seen shaking hands with a faculty member and handing him a framed Outstanding Teacher Award. Other faculty members can be seen sitting at tables around them. The man receiving the award is Dr. Howard Dorian (Communications). In the right foreground and facing the camera is Dr. Peter Petschauer.
