Description
This image shows some being led on a tour through the Computer Center at Appalachian State University (1967-current). Actuators holding magnetic tape drives are in the foreground, and stored magnetic tape reels are on the background. The Computer Center began in 1968 and offered computing support for administrative offices and a laboratory for computer science students. The event was sponsored by the Center for the Study of Private Enterprise, which was established in 1978 to provide programs for high school economics teachers. Pictured on the right is Dr. Albert Hughe, Professor of Political Science.
